Ruark R610 with Sabre-R speakers add some 80’s style

Ruark Audio, the Southend-on-Sea hi-fi specialist, has taken the covers off of the R610 Music Console alongside the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers, bringing back one of their iconic speaker names from the 1980s.

Like the R410, Ruark has once again masterfully blended a retro aesthetic with cutting-edge music streaming tech, appealing to both audiophiles and design-conscious users alike. It’s a nod to the classic 70s and 80s stereo systems, but with a distinctly modern touch.

Let’s start with the design. Whether you choose the Fused Walnut or Satin Charcoal finish, the R610 just looks absolutely amazing, while the Sabre-R speakers match that vibe perfectly. Crafted from high-quality materials, these are as much furniture pieces as they are audio equipment – as is always the case with Ruark.

Ruark’s signature RotoDial controller makes a return, enhanced for a more tactile and intuitive experience. There’s also a colour display that shows album art and other details in crisp clarity.

But it’s not all about looks—the R610 Music Console is packed with tech. Powered by a modern switch mode power supply and Burr-Brown DACs, the system delivers high-resolution audio streams, up to 32-bit/384kHz, across a range of sources.

Where you get your digital music piped into the R610 is up to you, but there’s an absolute plethora of options including Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, BBC Sounds, Deezer, Qobuz and many more.

For those wanting to relive their vinyl days, the R610 has a built-in phono pre-amp for turntable connections. And if you’re still holding onto your CDs, Ruark has you covered with an optional CD drive, which will connect via the rear USB port.

As for audio quality, expect Ruark’s signature sonic excellence. The Sabre-R speakers, crafted to outlast their predecessors, feature silk dome tweeters and natural fibre cone woofers, delivering rich, immersive sound that enhances any genre of music.

Priced at £1,200 for the R610 Music Console and £699 for the Sabre-R speakers, these latest additions to Ruark’s lineup are available now.
