“Alexa, tell Dyson to start vacuuming”
Robot vacuum cleaners are perfect companions for helping out with the household chores, offering quick and easy control through their respective apps, whether that’s iRobot, Roborock, Dyson or one of the many others.
They come into their own when you connect them up with one of the smart home assistants however, allowing them to be part of routines and automations to streamline the cleaning process further. Dyson is compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant, so you use your voice to tell your Dyson 360 Vis Nav to get cleaning that living room.
Here, we are covering how to add Dyson’s 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner (or one of the older models) to Alexa, which in turn will allow this premium robot with superb suction to be a part of Alexa Routines too once added.
What you’ll need
- Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum cleaner
- Your smartphone or tablet
- The Alexa app
- Your Dyson credentials
The short version
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap on ‘More‘.
- Tap on ‘Skills & Games‘.
- Find the ‘Dyson‘ skill by searching at the top.
- Tap on ‘Enable to use‘.
- Link your Dyson account.
All of Dyson’s robot vacuum cleaners are compatible with Alexa and once connected, you can use your voice to start cleaning, stop cleaning or change the mode, as well as a couple of extras.
You can also set routines and automations to get your Dyson robot vacuum cleaner to work within a group of devices that operate simultaneously when you give a specific command. For example, you could create an Alexa Routine for when you wake up in the morning that turns on the radio on a compatible speaker, starts boiling the kettle and starts the vacuuming all at the same time.
Some of the commands you can ask Alexa once your Dyson robot vacuum is connected include, “Alexa, ask Dyson to turn on Quiet Mode”, “Alexa, stop vacuuming” and “Alexa, ask Dyson to start vacuuming”, all of which you can simply ask through an Alexa-compatible device, whether that’s a Sonos Era 100 or an Amazon Echo Show.
That’s it. Your Dyson account will now be connected to Alexa and your robot vacuum will be ready to add to a group, or control with your voice.
