Nanoleaf has unveiled its latest smart lighting product, Nanoleaf Blocks, which adds more than just illumination to your walls.
Announced at the company’s Nanoleaf Live event, the Blocks system is a modular setup featuring square light panels that can be customized with pegboards, textured panels, and shelves – so you can show off things like game controllers, Funko Pops, framed pictures and more.
The Nanoleaf Blocks stand out from previous Nanoleaf panels such as the such as a Nanoleaf Shapes thanks to their edge-to-edge illumination, designed to eliminate uneven lighting and shadows.
But perhaps the most striking new feature of the modular panels come, which come in two sizes, is that they can be combined with optional accessories like backlit pegboards and shelves, offering both a lighting and display solution.
While the customization options offer flexibility, setting up the Blocks requires a bit more effort than Nanoleaf’s previous adhesive-mounted panels. The pegboards and shelves need to be drilled into the wall for proper installation.
The Blocks system works with Wi-Fi and supports major smart home platforms, including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings.
However, full compatibility with the Matter smart home standard isn’t available yet, with Nanoleaf seemingly waiting for dynamic lighting scenes to be supported first.
Users can also control the system through a physical controller on the first panel, offering quick access to power, brightness, and scene selection without needing to use the app.
Pricing starts at $199.99 for the Squares Smarter Kit, which includes six square panels. The Combo XL Smarter Kit, featuring a mix of panels, pegboards, and shelves, is priced at $249.99, with additional accessories like shelves and textured panels available for $29.99 each.
Pre-orders are open on Nanoleaf’s website, and the Blocks will be available from Best Buy, Amazon, and The Home Depot starting in October.
Nanoleaf has also revealed that its Sense+ Smart Wireless Anywhere Switch, first shown off back in 2020 but most recently at CES in January of last year is also now available.
Costing $30, the battery powered smart switch is powered by Nanoleaf’s new Litewave tech; at one point it was all set to be a Thread device but that idea has obviously been canned.
It’s a wireless light switch with a motion and daylight sensor, with two configurable buttons which can be set to six different actions.
It’s $30 and it’s also available to pre-order now with shipping. next month.
