IFA 2024: Roborock’s IFA announcements include three new robot vacuum cleaners, a cordless vacuum and a washer-dryer
IFA 2024 is in full swing over in Berlin, with a number of launches taking place across the smart home, and Roborock has several of those on its own.
Celebrating a decade in the business this year, Roborock has announced five new smart cleaning solutions, three of which fall into its familiar robot vacuum cleaner category.
The Chinese brand, which is a firm favorite here at The Ambient (check out our Roborock hub page to see a bunch of glowing reviews) has revealed the Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge, both of which feature what Roborock claims to be an “industry-first” AdaptiLift Chassis that should allow for seamless transitioning between different floor types.
This feature sees the robot vacuum cleaners having independently adjustable three-wheel control to dynamically adjust 10mm in height whilst moving around your home. It’s not enough to climb stairs, but it should be enough to move between thresholds of up to 4cm.
The Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge also feature a dual anti-tangle system with a DuoDivide Main Brush and a FlexiArm Arc Side Brush, claimed to offer a 0% tangling rate and 100% removal rate of hair.
There’s a whopping 18,500Pa HyperForce Suction on board too – by far the highest Pa suction reading we’ve seen from a robo-cleaner – along with FlexiArm Technology with an extendable side brush and right-side mop, as we saw introduced on the flagship Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra.
Both the Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge come with the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 with the 75°C hot mop washing feature, though the Qrevo Curv stands out slightly with its exclusive all-in-one dock that complements its rounded design.
The Qrevo Slim meanwhile, is aiming to make its own headlines as the “industry’s slimmest 3D ToF navigation robot vacuum equipped with advanced navigation and obstacle recognition technology.”
It measures just 8.2cm high and comes with Roborock’s StarSight Autonomous System that uses a combination of 21,600 sensor points, 38,400Hz sampling frequency and a RGB camera for precise navigation and obstacle detection.
It’s the result of more than five years of work and it sees the Qrevo Slim able to capture height and depth data in order to recognise and avoid up to 73 obstacles, including your furry friends. If your cat or dog suddenly appears, the Qrevo Slim’s main brush will stop and it will adjust its trajectory.
Like the Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge, the Qrevo Slim comes with the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 with enhanced mop washing and self-cleaning capabilities. It offers 11,000Pa suction and there’s the FlexiArm Side Brush and Mop, as well as the DuoRoller Riser Brush on board.
It’s interesting that Roborock has introduced all of this new tech on the Qrevo range, which is the mid-level category for the brand… so we’d expect to see plenty of these features, and more, playing a part of the new S-level top dog, which is usually announced in January at CES.
Elsewhere, the Roborock announcements also included the Roborock H5 cordless vacuum cleaner with advanced filtration. Going up against the likes of Dyson and Shark, the Roborock H5 has a suction power of 158AW and weighs 1.82kg with the motorized mini brush attached.
Last but not least is the Zeo Lite washer dryer, which utilises what Roborock claims to be “the world’s first Zeo-cycle drying technology”.
This technology uses the Zeo Lite’s water vapor absorption capacity to protect delicate fabrics without extreme heat. It has a 10kg drum for washing, 6kg for drying and it will complete a full cycle in an hour. There will be 27 customizable wash and dry modes accessible through the Roborock App.
We’re not getting our hopes up about this one though; Roborock’s original Zeo washing machine only left China for a brief German launch but wasn’t exactly a success story.
