Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo review

Powerful suction, deep mopping and smart AI for spotting stains and obstacles avoidance, the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo is a great robot vacuum and mop in its own right. Although the app could be a bit clearer to use, this robot has a tonne of smart features available, including the ability to either lift or detach its mop pads depending on the type of carpet detected. For those with complicated environments with mixed flooring, this could well be a great choice.

Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+: Introduction

  • Type: Robot vacuum with mopping
  • Docking: Auto empty dock with water tanks
  • Navigation system: dToF LiDAR Sensor

Powerful suction, deep mopping and smart AI for spotting stains and obstacles avoidance, the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ 3-in-1 Cleaning VR7MD97714G, to give it its full meaty moniker, is a great robot vacuum and mop in its own right.

Although the app could be a bit clearer to use, this robot has a tonne of smart features available, including the ability to either lift or detach its mop pads depending on the type of carpet detected.

For those with complicated environments with mixed flooring, this could well be the best choice.

Design and components

  • Self-empty, self-clean docking station
  • Dual mopping pads that can lift or detach
  • Works in SmartThings

The Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ follows the traditional look of most robot vacuum cleaners.

Round in shape, with the LiDAR dome on top and a camera at the front, Samsung has made a product that looks much like any number of rivals.

Robot vacuum cleaners are not about looks, but features and performance, and Samsung has introduced a number of new features, including using the camera for stain detection as well as obstacle avoidance.

Flip the robot over, and the first new feature is right there with the split brush bar. This design is there to push hair from the outsides of the brush bar to the middle, where it is cut up and sucked into the bin.

Then, there are the two microfibre mopping cloths, which spin to agitate and remove dirt. These kinds of mops are a common sight on robots, such as the Eufy Clean X8 Pro.

Here, the mopping pads have two tricks.

First, when low-pile carpet is detected, the mopping bracket can lift 10mm off the ground. However, when deeper-pile carpet is detected, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ can drop its mopping pads off at the dock and proceed as a vacuum-only robot, much like the Ezviz RS2.

This combination makes Samsung’s robot considerably more flexible than its competition.

The large docking station is a self-empty, self-clean one. It takes 2.5-litre bags, sucking dust out of the robot’s smaller bin.

Able to take 10 full loads from the robot, the bags should last at least a month before you need to throw one away and replace it.

While you don’t have to empty the robot’s own bin manually, you should still remove it monthly to clean it out and wash the filter.

There’s a 4-litre tank for fresh water, and a 3.6-litre tank for dirty water. With some water remaining on the floor after mopping, I found that the dirty tank needed emptying every time I had to refill the fresh tank.

Fresh water is heated to create steam, which is then used to clean the mopping pads, sanitising them in the process and preventing germs from being trailed across the floor. At the end of a clean, hot air is used to dry the pads.

Internally, the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+  has a small 0.1-litre water tank. This tank controls the amount of water used during mopping, and the robot can nip back to the dock to refill when necessary.

The app

  • Works with SmartThings
  • Can be hard to find settings

As a Samsung product, it should be no surprise that the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ uses SmartThings, rather than a separate vacuum app.

That’s generally a good choice, as it means that all of your smart devices and compatible smart appliances can be accessed from one place.

Once installed, tapping the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ in SmartThings brings up a user interface that’s similar to most of the competition’s.

The first job is to start a mapping run, which gets the robot to drive around your home, quickly generating a map.

SmartThings will create the map with rooms, based on where it thinks the boundaries are. I found that the app was mostly correct, but I had to make a few minor corrections. I couldn’t work out how and couldn’t see a map edit option.

It turns out that I had to keep scrolling down to find the settings I needed. It’s a touch confusing, and Samsung could do with a little interface tweak to make things easier to find.

Fortunately, once I’d found the settings, the map options are comprehensive. It’s easy to merge or split rooms, create no-go and no-mop zones, and to add furniture to a room.

Similar to the feature in Roborock’s vacuums, such as the S8 MaxV Ultra, you can quickly select a bit of furniture for cleaning around, say cleaning around a dining table after a meal.

Other cleaning options include tackling your entire home, a zone that you draw on the map or a room (or rooms) of your choice. There’s then control over the vacuum mode to use, although I found the smart mode, which varies power automatically as well as the amount of water used for mopping, the best option.

There’s also a smart mode for dealing with carpet, with the 10mm lift used for short pile carpet and deep pile carpet handled by dropping the mopping bracket entirely. It’s a very useful combination, and lets the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ handle most mixed environments with ease.

It’s worth turning on the stain detection mode, which uses the camera to spot larger stains and then focus on them.

In use

  • Excellent navigation
  • Deep mopping
  • Powerful vacuuming

Using the smart mode, I found that the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ managed to deal with most dust spills, deep cleaning carpets and picking up mess from hard floors.

Using a traditional side-sweeper brush, edge performance was good, but there was always a thin line around the sides of my rooms where the dust couldn’t be collected.

Devices with additional edge cleaning tricks, such as the FlexiArm with the Qrevo Slim, tend to do better.

With the smart stain detection turned on, I was impressed with the mopping ability. Most daily stains, such as dried-on coffee and footprints, were dealt with in a couple of passes.

Deep stains, such as dried on ketchup, typically required three passes. This does demonstrate that the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ is capable of returning a hard floor to its best, even when faced with tough stains.

In a house that has multiple cats and people with long hair, the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ dealt well with all of the mess, picking up hair without any of it getting tangled.

Navigation was excellent, with the camera able to spot and avoid common obstacles, including shoes, cables and even my fake pet mess.

I measured the robot at 59.1dB, which makes it one of the quietest that I’ve tested. In fact, it’s easy enough to sit in the same room as the robot as it goes about its business.

Battery life is also on-par with the competition. Even when set for a double pass of a floor of my home, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ had enough power to do the job, and have enough left in the tank to tackle several spot cleaning jobs.

Final thoughts

The high-end competition is tough, and there are rivals that mainly stand out: the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is better at edge cleaning, and the Eufy Omni S1 Pro mops faster and physically removes dirt with its self-dosing roller.

But, there’s still room for the Samsung Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI+ in a crowded market, particularly for homes with hard floors, rugs, and short- and deep-pile carpets. With its lift or detach options for its mop pads, this robot is a lot more flexible than its rivals.

How we test

When we publish our reviews, you can rest assured that they are the result of “living with” long term tests.

Robot cleaners usually live within an ecosystem, or a range of products that – supposedly – all work in harmony. And they are designed to offer a range of different cleaning options. Therefore, it’s impossible to use a robo cleaner for a week and deliver a verdict.

Because we’re testing smart home kit all day, everyday, we know what matters and how a particular smart cleaning machine compares to alternatives that you might also be considering.

Our reviews are comprehensive, objective and fair and, of course, we are never paid directly to review a device.
