RGBIC lightstrips go live alongside new Switch and outdoor light options
Signify’s non-Hue arm WiZ has debuted a series of new smart lights and also a nifty new Music Sync feature.
First up is a new range of Matter compatible LED lightstrips, with the standout device being a 5m Neon Flex RGBIC strip, allowing you to create cool patterns and lighting effects thanks to individually addressable segments.
There are also more traditional lightstrips in the new lineup with the RGBIC tech on board, ranging from 4 to 30m.
You can control the new lightstrips using the Wiz app, voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri, and they are also controllable with the new Wiz Smart Dial Switch, which actually looks a lot slicker than its Hue-cousin namesake.
The new Switch isn’t a Wi-Fi device, but has a 15m range and can be programmed to control multiple Wiz lights.
The new Music Sync feature uses the microphone on your phone, rather than one on a device as we’ve seen from the likes of Nanoleaf and Govee, but the good news is that you can have all of your Wiz lights synced up for the action, as long as they’re all on the same Wi-Fi network.
Wiz has also taken the covers off of a new Smart Fairy Light, a 20-metre long fairy light containing 160 mini LED bulbs, which can work outdoors.
Finally, Signify has also launched new Wiz GU10 bulbs and the outdoor-focused, Matter-compatible, Wall Light Classic.
The new arrivals add to what’s already been a busy year for WiZ. In June the brand unveiled its first color filament bulb and a flexible light strip.
It was also used as a guinea pig for Signify’s Matter update, with a rollout beginning in April. Hue has, of course, now jumped aboard the good-ship Matter, but it was Wiz that led the way.
It’s clear that Signify sees Wiz as much more than a budget Hue, with plenty of innovation across the brand and some exciting launches.
